VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – October 20, 2021– Lawson is proud to share that The Retreat at Harbor Point Apartments have been awarded the Coastal Virginia Building Industry Association Award for Best Community in the Affordable category.

The Coastal Virginia Building Industry Association launched the new awards program this year designed to recognize excellence in new single-family homes, newly remodeled homes, and new apartment community construction. Projects eligible for the 2021 competition were completed between June 2020 and August 2021. The entries were judged by a panel of out-of-state professionals.

The Retreat at Harbor Pointe is a 100% affordable 246-unit LIHTC (Low Income Housing Tax Credit) community providing upscale living to low-income families and includes apartments reserved for residents with physical and developmental disabilities. Fifty units at The Retreat are set aside for Section 8 Project Based Voucher holders.

The Retreat at Harbor Pointe is located on Norfolk’s historic Elizabeth River waterfront and features luxury amenities including a resort-style swimming pool with river views, modern fitness center, community clubhouse, and an elevated riverfront boardwalk. Apartments include modern kitchens with granite countertops, water conserving fixtures, and energy-efficient appliances in EarthCraft certified buildings.
