VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – September 29, 2020– Lawson is proud to receive the 2020 Home Builders Association of Virginia Multifamily Project of the Year Award for Seaside Harbor Apartments. The Home Builders Association of Virginia is a trade association dedicated to enhancing and protecting housing in Virginia.
HBAV selected Seaside Harbor for the award for its overall architecture, design appeal, functionality and creative plan integration in apartment living.
Seaside Harbor is an eco-friendly EarthCraft Certified state-of-the-art workforce housing community located three blocks from the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach’s ViBe Creative District. The community provides affordable housing with high-end amenities to low-income families in the Virginia Beach resort area.
Seaside has been nationally recognized for its inclusiveness and a unique partnership with local charity Samaritan House that generates revenue for Samaritan House to provide emergency and permanent housing, support, and outreach to victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness. Twenty-five percent of the apartments at Seaside Harbor meet fully, permanently accessible unit requirements as set by the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standard (USAF) for disabled residents and fifteen percent of the apartments are reserved for developmentally disabled residents capable of living independently. Lawson partners with Hope House to provide supportive services to residents with developmental disabilities.
Lawson President and CEO Carl Hardee said, “Lawson’s core focus is to positively impact the communities we serve. The high standard of living and supportive services available at Seaside Harbor is not typical of workforce housing communities, but it’s a bar we intend to raise again and again.”
At Lawson, we understand that what we do – and how we do it – affects the everyday lives of people we care about. Since 1972, we’ve focused on positively impacting the communities we serve, from team members and residents to investors and business partners. We manage and own nearly 6,000 apartment units and continue to grow with approximately 1,200 units in development. Our business model provides vertical integration of development, construction, property management and asset management, which enables our team of experts to add value at every stage for our partners. When you act with integrity, focus on quality and work to find creative solutions, great things are possible. It’s how we’ve done business at Lawson for over 45 years.
