VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – JUNE 4, 2021 – Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, Councilwoman Kristen Larson, Virginia civic and business leaders, and partners celebrated the Grand Opening of Alexander at 1090 Apartments, a new 100% affordable apartment community in Richmond, VA.
Affordable housing is in great demand in Richmond where nearly half of the residents are cost-burdened according to the Partnership for Housing Affordability. Alexander at 1090 provides 96 families with first-class, modern apartment construction at affordable rental rates. “The vision for all of our workforce housing communities is to build high quality affordable rental homes for families that need it. But one of the things that I think is special about Alexander at 1090 is that it’s truly indistinguishable from market-rate housing.”, said Lawson Chairman of the Board, Steve Lawson. “The rents here are literally about half of what some of the other new apartment communities in town charge.”
Alexander at 1090 includes two- and three-bedroom apartments that focus on the needs and desires of families. The community provides high-end amenities not historically found in income-restricted affordable housing and is an energy-efficient EarthCraft Gold certified development. All apartments include granite countertops, LVP plank flooring, energy-efficient appliances, low-flow water fixtures, LED light fixtures, and modern kitchens. Community amenities include a dog park, handicapped accessible playground, community clubhouse, and state-of-the-art fitness center.
